Steering Progress

Some progress on the steering. We altered some forks by chopping off the steer tubes and welding in narrower ones, and we welded the forks to the bottom of the pivots. Tom demonstrates the beginnings of our creation.

Steering Prototype

So here it is, the glorious steering mechanism. Or at least a dummy that gives you an idea of how it works. What you thought we would reveal everything so soon? hahaha, FOOLS!

So this curious object illustrates how the front two wheels will allow steering to be controlled by a steering wheel, support the car's weight and be able to take those break-neck college hill turns with ease. Notice how the wheels will camber, call it a cantilever and you will be swiftly corrected.

Tom and I stumbled upon this when we were looking for Adam on our workday. It's amazing how a little unexpected Emily Dickinson can brighten one's day in the shop.

Steering

We made this quick diagram of the steering system and started building it on Friday. So far, so good.

Initial Design

Here is the initial design of our craft. Our goal is to be ridiculous yet resourceful. We plan to build the vehicle with as high a recycled content as possible. That means using lots of reclaimed bike frames and scrap steel. The vehicle is going to have as many percussion instruments as possible mounted onto it with some being played by a mechanism connected to the drivetrain.
